This is exciting news!
I’ve been dealing with hearing loss for several years. It really hit home one day when someone spoke to me, and although I was looking right at her, I didn’t respond immediately. She started to repeat herself and another – very much younger – friend interrupted, saying “She doesn’t hear well; give her a minute”.
Wow… yes, sometimes it takes a bit for my brain to process the garbled hum of someone’s speech into something that makes sense.
If you know a person struggling with hearing loss, please speak slowly, raise your voice a bit louder (and deeper), and wait somewhat longer for a response than you might with another person who hasn’t any hearing loss.
And thank our legislature for pushing through this bill.
